Thinking of Hollywood movies often brings to mind images such as these:

These images come from films that are produced by major Hollywood studios and are done on very large budgets.  That's not to say that all Hollywood films are made in this way, but most of them are.

The images associated with independent films are often quite different.

So how did we get from the former set of images to the latter?  What makes a Hollywood film so...Hollywood?  And, subsequently, what started the counter movement of independent filmmaking?  This blog has been made to answer those questions and more.  Hope you enjoy!
